In an effort to improve the overall health of Georgians, Governor Sonny Perdue recently signed the Georgia Smoke free Air Act of 2005. Effective July 1, 2005, the new law prohibits smoking inside most public places and outlines specific guidelines for allowing smoking in and around establishments that serve the public.

Important Point: A smoke free public place must prohibit smoking twenty four hours per day in any area that does not meet the requirements pertaining to enclosed areas and smoking areas as specified in the Act.
